Profiles

Overview

Your profile is your window to the world. On Sonata, it's where your notes, channels, links, and announcements live side by side — a single place that tells people what you're about and what you're posting.

MyLinks

A bit like a condensed Linktree, Sonata allows you to link all of your external pages directly on your profile.

We'll fetch the site's icon directly and automatically load it in, or you may choose any emoji instead. Sonata supports per page icon crawling but we need to enable this for each domain. Let us know if we need to enable it for a domain you'd like to link to.

Pinned Notes

Up to 3 notes or threads can be pinned onto your profile and these can be authored by anyone, not just yourself.

These will show for others when they visit your profile.

If there's any reason a note can't show to you (for example, you've blocked the author), then you'll see the outline only as this will let you remove it.

If there's a reason a note can't show to a visitor to your profile, then they won't see it at all.

The on / off switch on your profile enables and disables pinned notes for other users when they view your profile.

Channels

Channels are the Sonata way of organising your notes, both for your benefit and for your visitors. They'll be able to follow you on a channel level, allowing them to keep up with your shared interests only.

For you, channels are a chance to group your posts, without needing to define exactly what you're talking about every time.

Announcements

When you follow someone, you'll see a toggle for announcements automatically enabled. This will make it so that each time this user posts an announcement, you'll get a notification about it, ensuring you don't miss this important post.

You may turn this off to disable the announcements feature for this user only.

Announcements are still notes posted to a channel, just slightly elevated. So you'll only get notified if you're also following the channel that they post it into.

Future plans

Verification will be a huge part of Sonata in a later update. Anything you verify will be available to add onto your public profile, if you wish.

This will include domains, pages and handles, which will show on profile links if you enable it.
